Smoker is a jazz kit with all the credentials ticked. Based around a toneful '70s Rogers kit with a selection of classic snares and cymbals, Smoker has a warm vintage tone fit for soulful and sparse quartets, hyped up frenetic bebop, bombastic big band, funked up lounge and everything in between. DNA Synths Korg MonoPoly

DNA sample line is a new sample series aimed at sound designers, vintage synth enthusiasts and any producer looking for authentic vintage synth sounds on a budget.
In the Loopmasters studios we have had the privilege to sample, use, admire and abuse many different synths over the years and so finally the DNA series is born. The concept behind this brand new royalty free collection is simple, to focus on the building blocks of great sounding vintage synths by multi sampling the raw analogue waveforms with subtle use of filter only so once loaded into your favourite soft sampler, you can go to town with modulations and effects.

First up for the DNA series is the incredible Korg MonoPoly first launched in 1981, it was one of the last 100% analogue synths to hit the market and is very much a pro synth. It has all the features you would expect to find on a large modular system including 4 very fat VCO's which can be shared in 4 voice Polyphonic mode or linked in Unison for a versatile monophonic lead.
Each VCO has its own level, tune, and waveform type control. Waveforms include triangle, saw, pulse-width, and pulse-width modulated. It has a great sounding filter section as well as 2 envelope generators (one for the oscillators and one for the filter).

Dig into and explore the DNA of the Mono Poly waveforms with over 1 gig of 24 bit wav samples. Featuring presets for bass, synth, lead and classic pad sounds ranging from 1, 2, 3, and 4 voice combinations, for each preset we sampled every note over a wide octave range with plenty of length in the samples for held notes . Also included are samples of the Raw Oscillators to be used as a solid basis for your own soft sampler experiments.
All the samples have been recorded using Kenton midi-cv converter that kept the tuning in check whilst we recorded the Mono, allowing for the patches to be in perfect tune across the full range of your keyboard. No more waiting 60 min or so for the MonoPoly to warm up before a session or gig!

Forgotten Keys FK14 Hammond AutoVari 64 V.4.2 KONTAKT

The Forgotten Keys FK14 Kontakt instrument is based on the 2nd incarnation of the Hammond AutoVari 64 rhythm unit from the early 1980s. The official model number was 101300 and it replaced the 101100 model. They were very similar in function, but the later model was very different inside and added a rhythm break feature as well as a programmable variation mode. The design of the unit gives the game away that it was meant to sit on top of a home organ. Indeed, this unit was also built into several Hammond organs from that period.

The sounds were very distinctive with a rich bass drum and a nice snappy snare. The cowbell sound was surprisingly realistic for the time which may account for why it was so loud and pops up in the most unlikely of places! The “64” in the name refers to the 64 rhythm patterns available (16 main rhythms with 4 variations), while “AutoVari” refers to the way these variations could be stepped through automatically every so many bars.

Sounds

Each of the 10 internal sounds of the AutoVari 64 have been carefully sampled in order to achieve the best signal-to-noise ratio, which is important in these older, often rather noisy machines. If you know Forgotten Keys drum machine re-creations, you will know that the sounds are sampled several times and picked at random in Kontakt to avoid the sterile sound of the same sample being repeated. Most noticeable with snare and cymbal sounds.

The sounds are in 24-bit 44.1KHz wav format.

Rhythms

The 64 rhythms of the FK14 are divided into 4 groups, A B C and D. By using the AutoVari function, it is possible to step through the 4 variations sequentially at an interval determined by the measure slider, or program a sequence of up to 16 steps in any order. The 4 variation buttons can also be selected at will even while AutoVari is active. There are 6 rhythm breaks that are assigned to specific rhythms, though some rhythms have no break.

Setup

The Setup tab offers greater control over how the FK14 sounds and operates. There are volume, pan, tune and mute controls for each sound. Incoming MIDI notes can be mapped to any rhythm or sound and outgoing sounds can be assigned to any available Kontakt output. Random tune and volume controls add a little human element to the sounds.
